Our story

Zeyva Shipping N.V. started as a dream that became a goal. A goal set by two people driven with the same passion for shipping and business. Today, their legacy remains and has evolved into an agency we proudly call our “family”.

Sandra’s story-

For Sandra Vaissaire-Bilkerdijk it was her ambition to establish her own shipping company before her 40th birthday. For her it was a bit different, she always had a passion for sailing. However she was told that sailing was a man’s job. A mother of 2 with the ambition to make something of herself, she decided to challenge herself and got herself a position as an office assistant at a dredging company. Later she developed as an operations officer of a shipping company.

Michiel’s story-

For Michiel Bilkerdijk it was first a dream to become a ship captain, but due to circumstances he was unable to finish his studies abroad. This didnt stop him from working his dream job. He decided to also work within the Shipping Industry. It was during this time that he met a progressive and ambitious woman named Sandra.

Both driven by their love for shipping and business, they joined together to build what we today know as Zeyva Shipping N.V.

The name-

The name Zeyva was decided. The name is a combination of the first three letters of the names of the founder’s two eldest children.

Ups and Downs-

Not all was smooth sailing after all.

Although Sandra and Michiel continued to build a life together, growing their family, Zeyva Shipping N.V. would be inactive for the following years after being established for the first time.

A family matter-

Zeyva Shipping N.V. would once again be revived, this time driven by the desire to become a successful family business. Joined by their children, Michiel and Sandra rebuild what was once their dream company.
